Neon Lights Regatta shines in Elizabeth Quay!

Published Mon 20 Feb 2017

On Friday February 17, Rowing WA held the first Neon Lights Regatta in Elizabeth Quay. It was a great success with crews thoroughly enjoying the fast paced sprint racing. Fantasdtic commentary provided by Jamie Hewlett and Shaun Brady definitely added to the atmosphere. Four male scullers kicked off the event with Rhys Grant back in the boat for the first time since competing at the Rio Olympics. This was also the very first time single scullers had raced in Elizabeth Quay and a collision in the A final saw dead heat awarded to clubmates, Rhys and Matt Cochran. The women's eights were next up with some schoolgirl crews really getting into the action and decorating themselves and their boats up beautifully for the evening. The evening finished off with the men's eights really showing the crowd some high speed action, creating quite the spectacle. The corporate crew from KPMG took out the best dressed boat and crew with a spectacular show of lights and colour. A big thanks to our valued partner, Lavan, for hosting the Corporate Cocktail event during the regatta as well. For more photos and videos from the evening check out the Rowing WA Facebook page.
