Background for 2024 nomination process

Rowing WA is continuing its commitment to raising the profile of Masters rowing in WA. To this end, Rowing WA is looking to field the most competitive interstate crews possible for the Interstate Masters races which are part of the Australian Masters Rowing Championships (AMRC). In 2024 the Regatta will be contested at Lake Barrington, Tasmania 8th May - 11th May 2024.

Crews to be selected:

  • Women’s D Quad Scull
  • Men’s D Quad Scull
  • Women’s D Eight
  • Men’s D Eight

Nomination Process

Rowing WA has undertaken a thorough review of its previous Masters State Team Campaigns.

In 2024, as in 2023, Rowing WA will be utilizing a collaborative selection approach for the selection of interstate Masters crews. Rowing WA will assist with this approach by asking for nominations for Selectors and Coaches. RWA will be on hand to assist in communication and liaison between all interested athletes via an Expression of Interest form and in-person meetings.

Whilst the process will still follow the cooperative self-selection approach, Rowing WA is endeavouring to bring more Masters athletes together to put the best possible crews on the water.

Rowing WA would like to encourage all Masters rowers to nominate. Though it is a requirement that the boat is a D grade average (50yrs and over) it can comprise of rowers from A-L categories with ideal ages ranging from 43-60 years.

The 2024 Event Requirements which outline the Nomination Process can be found HERE

As the first step in the nomination process, Rowing WA will be taking expressions of interest from rowers and coxswains from the 1st November 2023 through to the 20th December 2023. This expression of interest will allow Rowing WA to gauge the level of interest and awareness that individuals may have towards nominating for the Masters State Team. All interested athletes are then invited to attend an in-person meeting to meet other interested rowers.

As with all our State Teams the costs of travel and competing are at the athetes/coaches personal expense.

Expressions of Interest are now Closed
