About the Club

The Fremantle Rowing Club is a high performance and community club based on the swan river in East Fremantle. The club runs programs for Junior, Senior, Masters and High-Performance squads. The club has programs running year-round with the pennant and junior season running through winter and nationals, junior, and development nationals through summer.

The club is a partner club under the WAIS Pathway Partnership Club (PPC) program and works with WAIS on developing high performance athletes in the state. The club has run the TID program for the last four years with the expectation to continue delivering the program into the future.

The club has a commercial standard gym, dedicated ergo room, as well as a large fleet of high-quality boats and equipment.

The club has had marked success in recent years, ranking 7th on the medal table at the 2024 Nationals, with several athletes rowing in State and National teams, including 5 athletes in the 2024 National team including one racing at the Paris Olympics. 

The club’s philosophy is on providing an environment for athletes to thrive in, however puts the onus on the athletes to self-drive their commitment to achieve their goals. The club has four values that we instil in our athletes which are:

Lastly, we believe that the club is a club for all, for life.  We encourage participation at all levels and want to provide opportunities for members to be a part of the club and the sport for life.

We are looking for someone to continue the success of the club over the last 5 years and develop the club for the future.

About the Role

This is a 1.0FTE full time coaching role, that will includes on-water, and off water coaching, as well as admin relating to the development of  athletes the program and the club. 

We would also consider a split role between coaching the club and the Iona Presentation College Rowing Program.

While not preferred we would also be open to discussion a part-time role for the right candidate.

Inclusion Officer

Rowing WA is seeking a dedicated and organised casual Inclusion Officer to support the administration and delivery of the Rowing Radiance program. This innovative program aims to promote inclusivity and empowerment through indoor rowing, specifically targeting seniors, women, individuals of all abilities, and adolescent girls.
The Inclusion Officer will play a crucial role in managing relationships with program partners, overseeing program development, and assisting partner clubs with logistics and implementation. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful program that fosters community engagement and physical activity.
The Inclusion Officer will also be instrumental in program marketing and promotion to engage these identified target demographics. They will work closely with partners to develop and implement strategies that reach seniors, women, individuals of all abilities, and adolescent girls through various channels and platforms.

This is a casual position working up to 16 hours per week on average

We are a Child Safe organisation and all employees must have or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check.

Asian Engagement Project Officer

Rowing WA is seeking a dedicated and organised casual Asian Engagement Project Officer to support the administration and delivery of this international engagement program. This innovative program aims to build on existing and develop new international rowing relationships to provide outbound pathway opportunities for athletes and coaches as well as inbound opportunities for international squads to utilise WA’s world-class rowing coaching, facilities, and equipment.
The Asian Engagement Project Officer will play a crucial role in managing relationships with international partners, overseeing program development, and assisting with logistics and implementation. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful program that fosters international engagement and enhances the development of WA athletes and coaches.
The Asian Engagement Project Officer will also be instrumental in program marketing and promotion to engage the target international communities. They will work closely with partners to develop and implement strategies that reach the target countries through various channels and platforms.

This is a casual position working up to 5 hours per week on average.

The Bunbury Rowing Club (Est. 1921) has a long and proud history, both within the local community and the national rowing fraternity. The club is looking to employ a full time coach to maintain the focus on increasing general club membership, rowing participation at all levels and improving on-water performance at state and national levels. 

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in the following areas: 

Essential Criteria 

  • Formal rowing qualification (Australian Level 2) 

  • Coached or rowed at a National Regatta Level (or international equivalent) 

  • Proficient in developing rowing techniques and athletic conditioning in athletes of varying ages, experience, and skills. 

  • Experience and ability to teach coxswain skills, sculling and sweep rowing. 

  • Excellent leadership and teaching skills. Must have a passion for the sport, and a desire to pass that on to others. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with athletes, parents, other coaches, officials, and club volunteers. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively – orally, written and in person. 

  • Working With Children check 

  • Ability to manage and maintain club rowing equipment. 

  • Recreational Skippers Ticket (WA) (or commitment to acquire the qualification) 

 

All applicants must be eligible to work in Australia permanently and be located or prepare to relocate to Bunbury, Western Australia.

Scotch and St HIlda's | Rowing Coordinators

Scotch College and St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls have an exciting opportunity for two Rowing Coordinators to join the combined Scotch College and St Hilda’s Rowing programmes commencing Term 4, 2024.

We are seeking two Coordinators, one for the Scotch College programme and one for the St Hilda’s programme with both positions reporting to the Head of Rowing at Scotch College. This unique opportunity allows you to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of young rowers and promoting a vibrant sporting culture within two of Australia's leading independent schools.

The coordinators’ role will include coordinating the schools rowing programme (0.6FTE) and a teaching and or other operational role, subsequently at Scotch or St Hilda’s, subject to negotiation with the successful candidates.

About the Roles:

As a Rowing Coordinator, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the rowing programme of the respective school under the guidance of the Head of Rowing. This role involves:

• Student coaching and management: Promote a strong sense of teamwork, safety, set expectations for students and staff, sportsmanship, and more.

• Administration: Organise and process sign-ups, handle finance activities, maintain documents and procedures, assist in scheduling coaches, and more.

• Communication & Community Engagement: Be the point of contact for your programme, develop relationships with key stakeholders and the wider community, promote the culture of the rowing programme, and more.
