World Masters - Banyoles

Published Mon 08 Sep 2025

Banyoles, Spain – the rowing venue of the 1992 Olympic Games – will welcome one of the largest gatherings of Masters rowers ever this September. More than 3,700 athletes from 747 clubs have entered the 2025 World Rowing Masters Regatta, making it the second biggest edition in the event’s history. Racing will take place on Lake Banyoles from 10 to 14 September.

The international reach of the 2025 Masters Regatta is striking. Around 670 athletes will make the trip from clubs in Great Britain, while more than 400 rowers from Spanish clubs will take to their home waters. Strong entries have also come from France and Germany, and nearly 300 athletes are travelling from clubs in the United States. Large contingents are also expected from Australia (142), Brazil (104) and Japan (75).

In total, over 5,395 boats are entered across five days of competition – and many more are expected to join for the mixed racing on the final day. Around 680 races are scheduled, with participants ranging in age from 27 to 96 – the oldest competitor this year travelling all the way from Brazil.

The final day of the regatta, Sunday 14 September, will once again be dedicated to mixed racing. Crews can still be entered until 12 September, giving athletes one last chance to join the regatta.

New for 2025 is Athlete Connect– a feature designed especially for Masters rowers. It helps people find each other and form crews across the globe, all aligned with the regatta schedule. Whether it is filling an empty seat, joining a mixed crew, or making new connections, Athlete Connect is already proving to be a valuable tool in bringing the community together.
