Club Development – Spring Series
Free evening workshops for Rowing WA members | October–November 2025
Rowing WA are delighted to present to you a curated club developement series.
This spring series of five engaging sessions has been designed to support the personal and professional development of coaches, coxes, volunteers, and club leaders.
Session are hosted in-person and online and offer practical insights, expert-led discussions, and networking opportunities. Find out more below! Registration is essential.
Session Details
1. The Fundamentals of Coxing - “Lead from the seat that steers the crew.”
Presenter: Bourby Webster
Audience: Coxes and Coaches
Details: Monday 13 October | 18:30-20:00
Explore the multifaceted role of the coxswain — athlete, coach, administrator, and leader — and why mastering the fundamentals is vital to crew success. Bourby Webster, the first female cox of WA’s Kings Cup crew and a dynamic leader in sport and the arts, leads this interactive workshop combining seminar-style learning with practical exercises.
The Why??:
- Understand the core responsibilities and influence of a coxswain
- Develop leadership and communication skills specific to coxing
- Learn how to support coaches and crews effectively

2. Developing your Coaching Leadership - “Lead with clarity. Coach with confidence.”

Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, coaching is a journey of continuous growth. This transformative session, led by renowned performance psychologist Jodii Maguire, is designed to support coaches at every stage of their development — from emerging leaders to seasoned mentors.

3. Disability & Inclusion Workshop - “Rowing for all — inclusion starts with understanding.”

Audience: Club leaders, Coaches and Volunteers
Details: Wednesday 12 November | 18:00-19:30
Discover how to make rowing more inclusive for athletes with disabilities. This workshop highlights para-rowing pathways, adaptive equipment, and strategies for integrating inclusive practices into club culture.

4. revSPORT Optimisation Workshop - "We love seeing our platform simplify and improve the lives of club people."

Audience: Club Administrators, Committee Members and Volunteers

Learn how to streamline club operations by upskilling yourself on the management platform RevolutioniseSPORT. Topics include member management, event coordination, communication strategies, and accessing free resources through Club Spot.

5. Attain, Retain & Maintain Volunteers - "Nurture your volunteer culture for longevity."

Audience: Club Committee Members, Volunteer Coordinators

Volunteers are the lifeblood of rowing. This session will allow people to understand that having a successful Volunteer Management program will add to club sustainability and the ability to resource more aspects of club management as well as be socially inclusive as a club.
