A huge congratualtions to Luke Forysth, Rowing WA Boat Race Official.
Rowing Australia announced today the finalists for the 2025 'Official of the Year'. Winners will be announced on December 5th at the 2025 Rower of the Year Awards in Canberra.
This award recognises the officials who uphold the integrity of our sport through their professionalism, fairness and commitment. Rowing Australia are incredibly grateful for the officials, who dedicate countless hours to ensuring safe, fair and well-run racing.
Following his recognition as ‘Boat Race Official of the Year’ at the Rowing WA Rower of the Year Awards, Luke Forsyth has now been named a national finalist.
Luke has demonstrated exceptional dedication to officiating across club, state, and national levels. In 2025, he achieved Level 3 Boat Race Official accreditation, a milestone that reflects his technical expertise and commitment to professional standards.
Over the past season, Luke officiated at 31 regattas, covering a wide range of roles including Marshalling, Starting, Umpiring, Jury Member, and President of the Jury. His versatility spans multiple rowing disciplines, including Head Racing, Sprint, Indoor, Coastal, and Pennant. His contributions extended to major national competitions such as the Australian Rowing Championships in Tasmania and the Rowing Australia Beach Sprints Championships in New South Wales.
Luke is widely regarded as a role model within the WA BRO community. His willingness to share knowledge and support fellow officials fosters a culture of learning and collaboration. His leadership as Jury President has provided emerging officials with opportunities to observe best practices in decision-making and conflict resolution, reinforcing his influence as a mentor.
Luke’s reliability and presence throughout 2025 have been instrumental in ensuring the ongoing success and delivery of rowing competitions in Western Australia and beyond.
Congratulations, Luke, and best of luck!
