SportWest Junior Sport Star Finalists
Published Fri 23 Jan 2026
SportWest Junior Sport Star Award
Lachlan Brown and Jack Hansen-Knarhoi have both been named finalists for the 2025 SportWest Junior Sports Star Award. The Australian Under 19 Men's Pair were inseparable throughout their campaign toward the 2025 Under 19 World Championships in Lithuania.
Beginning their journey in February at the NSW State Championships, they claimed gold in the Men's Under 19 Pair and Under 21 Pair. At the Australian Rowing Championships (ARC), they secured national titles in the Men's Under 19 Pair and Under 19 Coxless Four, as well as a silver medal in the Noel F Wilkinson Trophy (Men's Youth VIII+).
Following ARC, the pair earned their spot at the National Underage Trials in April before training intensively from April to August, then relocating to Italy ahead of the Under 19 World Rowing Championships. Competing against the best juniors from 18 countries, Lachlan and Jack came agonizingly close to gold, finishing just 1.51 seconds behind in the A Final.
From their development years at Trinity College to representing WA as juniors in the Pathway VIII+, where they claimed gold in 2024, the WA rowing community congratulates Lachlan and Jack on their finalist status and wishes them all the best when winners are announced at the 2025 WA Sport Awards on 26 February 2026.
