Regional Junior Athlete Subsidy and Scholarship Opportunities

There are a number of subsidy schemes and scholarship opportunities available for junior rowers in regional WA. If you or your child are eligible, interested, and require State Sporting Body endorsement, please reach out to Lara at schooldev@rowingwa.asn.au
Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme
The Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme is open all year round and is available to regional athletes aged 12 to 18 years who have progressed into the high performance pathway of their chosen sport and are pursuing regional, state and national representation.
Eligible regional athletes can receive funding for travel and accommodation expenses directly related to competitions and programs, in accordance with the performance level categories and eligibility criteria outlined in the application guidelines.
Regional athletes include those who reside in Peel, South West, Great Southern, Goldfields, Mid West, Gascoyne, Pilbara and Kimberley.

Peel Regional Academy of Sport Athlete Scholarships are open until 6 March 2026.
These scholarships are available to athletes aged 13 to 21 years who reside in the Peel region, are a member of a Peel based club, attend school in the Peel region, or are being coached by a Peel based coach.
Eligible Peel based athletes can receive support through strength and conditioning coaching, education workshops, psychology support, and discounted physiotherapy and other services through program sponsors.

South West Academy of Sport Individual Athlete Support Program will open in April 2026.
This support program is open to athletes aged 15 to 18 years as at 1 July who are excelling at a state level.

Great Southern Academy of Sport Scholarships will open on 16th March 2026.
These scholarships are open to athletes aged 13 to 18 years who reside in the Great Southern region of WA and are competing or trialling at a state level (Tier 1 athletes), or who are part of a talent identification squad or a high performance pathway (Tier 2 athlete).
Eligible Great Southern based athletes can receive tiered support in medical services, strength and conditioning, nutrition, mentoring and workshops.
