Published Fri 31 Oct 2025

On November 26 a team of 21 will depart for China. Two eights were invited to compete at the Hengqin Regatta to race over 1,500m on November 29 for a place in the final on November 30.

This trip, and the preparation to secure the invitation, was supported by the Asian Engagement grant provided by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS). We will be hosted by the Tinmuk Rowing Club on Hengqin Island.

Our trip takes us through Macau for sightseeing and ambassadorial duties, before putting our race faces on for an action-packed regatta. There are 25 entries across the University eights divisions, with entries from Harvard, Oxford, Yale. there are also several Asian based universities and clubs competing. Competition will be strong for a place in the final.

Our athletes will be ambassadors for promoting rowing in Western Australia and building rowing relationships with Asia.

Congratulations to the selected team!
