48th Hong Kong Rowing Championships Outbound Tour

Rowing WA is pleased to announce the athletes and support staff selected for the Asia Tour 2026, which will see Western Australian rowers travel to Hong Kong and China this November for a unique combination of international racing, training and cultural exchange opportunities.

The tour has been made possible through support from the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) through Rowing WA's Asian Engagement initiative. Over the past two years, the grant has enabled Rowing WA to build strong relationships throughout the region, creating valuable opportunities for athletes to gain international experience and strengthen connections with the rowing community across Asia.

The touring squad will begin their campaign at the 48th Hong Kong Rowing Championships, taking place from 13 to 15 November. The regatta will provide athletes with the opportunity to compete against crews from across the region while representing Western Australia on the international stage.

Following the championships, the squad will remain in Hong Kong to undertake a training camp at the Hong Kong Sports Institute, one of Asia's premier high-performance sporting facilities. Athletes will also have the opportunity to experience coastal rowing in the iconic waters surrounding Victoria Harbour and Middle Island, with support from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

Beyond the training and racing opportunities, participants will spend time exploring Hong Kong and experiencing the culture, history and vibrancy of one of the world's most dynamic cities.

The tour will then continue into mainland China, where the squad will travel to Shenzhen to participate in training sessions with Hegret Rowing Club. As China's third-largest city and a major innovation hub, Shenzhen will provide athletes with a unique opportunity to further develop their understanding of rowing within an international environment.

A number of athletes will extend their stay to compete at the Tinmuk Regatta in Hengqin on 26 and 27 November, providing additional international racing opportunities and further strengthening the relationships being built through the Asian Engagement initiative.

The Asia Tour continues to play an important role in providing Western Australian athletes with valuable international exposure, while also fostering long-term partnerships and cultural exchange opportunities across Hong Kong and China's Guangdong Province.
