2026 Rose Regatta Tour Opportunity
Published Thu 26 Mar 2026
Rowing WA Invites Expressions of Interest for 2026 Rose Regatta Tour
Rowing WA is calling for Expressions of Interest from female athletes and coaches for an all expenses paid trip to represent Western Australia at the 2026 Rose Regatta. This international rowing event is to be held in Shanghai, China from 15–16 May 2026.
The opportunity will see four female athletes and one developing coach selected to compete in the prestigious event, hosted by the Chinese Rowing Association and the People’s Government of Fengxian District, Shanghai, on the Jinhuigang River.
The tour forms part of Rowing WA’s ongoing Asian Engagement program, building on the strong relationships and successful outcomes achieved during the 2025 Rose Regatta tour. It is designed to provide emerging athletes and coaches with valuable international racing exposure, cultural exchange and development opportunities. Selected athletes and coaches will also act as ambassadors for Western Australia to encourage inbound rowing tours to regattas hosted in WA amongst other participating crews and clubs.
International racing experience fully supported
Selected athletes will race in the 1000m Women’s Quad Scull (4x) and 500m Women's Double Scull (2x) events. All major costs are covered by the host organising committee or grant, including:
- International return flights
- Accommodation and meals
- Local transport
- Boat hire, regatta entry and cultural activities
Participants are encouraged to budget $150 for incidental meals.
Who can apply
Athletes must be 22-26 years of age as at 31 December 2026 and available to travel for the full tour period (10–18 May 2026), with travel arrangements fixed. Coach applicants must be over the age of 18 at the EOI closing date. They must also hold a Rowing Australia Level 1 accreditation or higher and be actively engaged in coaching development, with preference given to those who have previously participated in Asian Engagement initiatives.
How selection will work
Selection will be based on:
- Athlete availability
- Recent regatta performances (with preference for National Championships competitors)
- Coaching experience and development engagement
All applicants will be notified of outcomes by 15 April 2026, with travel details finalised shortly after.

Expressions of Interest for both athletes and coaches close at 9:00am on Friday 10 April 2026.
