2026 Oceania Teams Rowing Championships 2026

Nominations are now open for athletes wishing to be considered for selection in the Oceania Teams Rowing Championships, to be held at Wyaralong Dam, Queensland, on 22–23 May 2026.

This prestigious event brings together teams from across Australia to compete in a high‑performance, multi‑boat format similar to the Youth Cup. The Championships provide an outstanding development opportunity for emerging athletes to gain representative racing experience in a team environment.

Eligibility

The event is open to athletes who:
• Have turned 18 years of age by 20 May 2026
• Are 21 years of age or younger as at 31 December 2026

Event structure

Each state team will consist of a maximum of 22 athletes, competing for both the Rusty Robinson Trophy (Overall) and the Noel Donnelson Trophy (Sculling). Teams will include both men’s and women’s squads made up of:
• 9 able‑bodied rowers (including a minimum of one lightweight)
• 1 para rower
• 1 coxswain

Racing program

Athletes will compete across small boats, medium boats and a big boat, with points contributing to overall team standings and sculling trophies as applicable.

Small boats (men and women) include:
• Pair (2-)
• Single Scull (1x)
• Double Scull (2x)
• Lightweight Single Scull (Lwt 1x)
• Para Single Scull (PR1–3)

Teams may also enter additional small boats, including one extra sculler (lightweight or heavyweight) and one additional pair or double scull.

Medium boats include:
• Coxed Four (4+)
• Coxless Quad (4x)
• Mixed Double Scull (Mix 2x)

A Para Double Scull (PR2x) may also be included, subject to classification viability and approval by the OTRC Working Group.

The big boat event will be the Coxed Eight (8+), contributing to overall team points.

In addition, a Mixed Quad will be formed using remaining athletes from each team. These crews will be eligible for medals but will not contribute to overall team points.

Regatta format

Small boat racing will commence on Friday, with heats held in the morning and A and B finals in the afternoon. Medium and big boat events will be run as straight finals on Saturday, with lane draws determined by cumulative team points from earlier events.

The Championships will conclude with a team dinner, medal and trophy presentations, and a social function on Saturday evening. Sunday will be reserved for social activities and departure, with each state responsible for organising any optional activities.
