Coxing is one of the most influential roles in rowing — yet often the least understood. This essential workshop, led byBourby Webster, is designed to elevate the prestige of coxing and deepen understanding of its impact on crew performance, culture, and cohesion.

👤 About the Presenter

Bourby Webster is a highly experienced coxswain, entrepreneur, and creative leader. She was the first female coxswain in 106 years to steer the WA Kings Cup State Rowing Crew, winning silver in 2002. Her coxing career includes national and international victories, including gold at the Women’s Henley Royal Regatta and the UK National Title.

Outside the boat, Bourby is thefounder of Perth Symphony Orchestra, one of WA’s largest arts organisations. She holds an MBA from UWA, an MA in Music from Oxford, and is a graduate of the Royal College of Music. Named Western Australian of the Year (Arts & Culture) in 2019, she brings a unique blend of high-performance sport, leadership, and creativity to this session.

She is currently the cox of the Black Swans Rowing Crew at Curtin University Boat Club, who will compete at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston this October.
