|
Why get
involved?
|
-
The RWA Elizabeth Quay (EQ) sprint regatta offers a unique regatta opportunity for rowers and spectators alike, as well as exposing the public to the great sport of rowing
-
The 192m sprint course offers participants a head to head racing experience in one of the most highly visible public aquatic arenas in Perth
-
Unlike any other rowing venue in the country, spectators can stand within metres of the start line or watch the finish from the bridge above
-
From any location around the natural aquatic amphitheatre, spectators will be able to enjoy every stroke
-
Quality commentary and music will add to the exciting atmosphere for participants and spectators
|
How to Get Involved
|
Rock up and Row
-
It can be as easy as ‘rock up and row’!! RWA will be working with a few clubs and schools to provide all the boats required for the regatta. This means crews can just arrive at EQ, help rig the boat and get out on the water and leave the packing up to someone else. There will be a $25 premium per seat for the convenience, which is a small price to pay
-
RWA will be providing toilet and change facilities at the launch beach so crews can freshen up after their races and head back into EQ to watch a few events and enjoy the festivities.

Eligibility &
Entry Fees
|
Anybody can enter this regatta!!
-
Crews can be composed of any variation of gender as long as they total eight rowers and one coxswain!!
-
Participants are only able to compete in one crew, due to only having very short intervals between races and the possibility of event program overlaps. Hence participants can’t compete in a corporate crew and a club crew.
-
Member Seat Fee - $12 (incl GST)
-
Non-member Seat Fee - $15 (incl GST)
|
Entry Process
|
-
Crews will need to the club to enter in corporate crews. If there are any other questions on this, please contact Bree Kennedy-Smith at development@rowingwa.asn.au.
-
RWA can assist clubs in developing corporate engagement strategies.
-
Clubs are encouraged to use the Corporate Promotional Flyer to engage corporate organisations!
|
importance of a Good Cox
|
-
Your crew will not be able to race without your coxswain completing their EQ coxswain accreditation.
-

Tips for Novice Crews
|
|
How will the night of the regatta unfold?
|
-
Crews/Schools will arrange a meeting point and pre-regatta requirements e.g. boat set-up. Most crews meet at the launch beach at approx. 4pm.
-
The regatta will commence at 5pm.
-
Most boats launch from the beach under the big flag pole (some crews row in from nearby clubs).
-
Specific race times will be finalised and circulated one week prior to regatta.
-
Crews will spend approx. one hour on the water and compete in three races over this time, progressing through heats and finals.
-
Crews will return to the launch beach and follow host club instructions about de-rigging and loading boat back on to trailer (unless being used by club crew following corporate event).
-
Once equipment is away, crews can walk back to EQ (approx. 300m) to enjoy the rest of the regatta atmosphere and comradery with other participants and spectators.
|
Club Hosting of Corporate Crews
|
-
RWA recognise that corporate crews will need support from rowing clubs to access equipment, coaching, training and logistical support. A number of clubs around Perth have indicated their interest to work with corporate crews to ensure they have a great experience.
-
Rowing Clubs can provide everything from a learn to row course and training program for complete novice crews that want to row at the EQ Night Sprints or future regattas to just providing equipment and logistics for experienced crews.
-
For further information please contact RWA on the details below to discuss your requirements and we can link you up with the appropriate club.
