Singapore Olympian Competing at Age Based Regatta

The Singapore National Rowing Team is in Perth for the next two weeks as a development opportunity for their Olympic campaign. The team is comprised of seven female athletes (including Tokyo Olympian Joan Poh) and one lighty male, plus several support staff and coaches. Their head coach, Goken Sakamoto, describes the group of athletes as 'passionate & hard-working' and we certainly get the sense that this group of rowers are full of heart, competitive spirit, and love for the sport!

Joan's story is very inspiring - the New York Times wrote about her journey to Tokyo in an article here.

The team will be targeting the Age Based Regatta (July 22nd) and will be at the Indoor Rowing Championships this Saturday.

Guildford Grammar School have generously offered to be the team's 'home base' during their trip. The team have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Tony, Ethan & the Guildford team for their support!

Well done to Yuhan, Coach Goken & all the athletes for going all in on their Olympic journey. Whole-heartedly committing to a big dream is incredibly inspiring for those around you.

If you see them at Indoor Champs or the Age Based Regatta, or out training, please say hello and give them a big warm WA welcome!!
