The WA rowing community comes together on Sunday 7 June for the 2026 WA Indoor Rowing Championships at All Saints’ College. From first-time participants to experienced rowers, the event offers a supportive, high-energy environment to test your limits, chase a PB, and connect with others across clubs, gyms, schools and workplaces.
With a range of distances and categories on offer, there’s something for everyone—whether you’re competing, supporting, or just giving it a go.

2026 Youth Olympic Games Opportunity
The road to Dakar 2026 starts now!
Rowing Australia has secured one male and one female quota place for the Youth Olympic Games, with selection decided at the Beach Sprint Australian Rowing Championships (3–6 September, Gold Coast).
Eligible athletes (born on or after 14 November 2008) are encouraged to nominate for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Australian Masters Rowing Championships
The Australian Masters Rowing Championships is underway, with all the racing action livestreamed from Champion Lakes.

IGSSA Regatta #3
Hosted by John XXIII College, IGSSA Regatta #3 will take place at Champion Lakes on Saturday 6 June.
PLC once again claimed wins in both the first and second Eights. Perth College took the win in the Schoolgirl A Single and St Hilda's for the Schoolgirl B Single Scull!
While crews size each other up and fine-tune their racing to find those crucial seconds, parents are doing much the same around the ever-competitive bacon and egg station to see how they can level up!

Master's State Championships Wrap Up
The Masters State Championships saw racing delivered in perfect conditions at Champion Lakes, with outstanding competition and several thrilling photo finishes across the program.
ANA led the way in the medal table, followed by Curtin, then UWA, in a strong showing of depth across WA clubs.

WA Coaches Go International
Two WA rowing coaches have recently returned from an international development opportunity at the Hong Kong Sports Institute, embedded within the Hong Kong national rowing programme.
Javier Ronda (Fremantle Rowing Club) and Nicholas Tejchman (All Saints’ College) gained valuable exposure to international training practices while supporting preparations for upcoming international regattas.
A big thank you to the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) for supporting this opportunity through the Asian Engagement Grant.

Invictus Members get a Taste for the Erg
RWA recently participated in the Invictus Australia Defence Sports Expo Day in Baldivis, with rowing one of 14 sports represented.
Around 250 people attended, taking the opportunity to try a variety of activities, including pickleball, rugby, archery, and indoor rowing. Invictus members Kim Doherty and Richard Wassell, along with Fremantle’s James Bowie, were on hand to support the RWA stand and introduce participants to erging.
This activation forms part of a new partnership with Invictus Australia under the Radiance Indoor Rowing program, supported by The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport, now delivering erg classes at Irwin Barracks in Karrakatta.

On-Water Safety Accreditation - Speed Exemption
Rowing WA reminds all members that the Swan and Canning Rivers Speed Exemption is currently in place, allowing coaching and safety vessels to operate effectively during rowing training and events.
All coaches are required to ensure they have completed the On‑Water Safety Accreditation online and that they are familiar with the current conditions and updates under the speed exemption.
