Represent WA in Hong Kong
Applications are now open for the 2026 Asian Engagement Tour to Hong Kong.
Under-26 athletes, coxswains and coaches are invited to apply for the opportunity to represent Western Australia at the 48th Hong Kong Rowing Championships while gaining valuable international racing and cultural experiences.
Supported through the Asian Engagement Program, the tour continues to create unique development opportunities and strengthen relationships within the Asian rowing community.

Women in Coaching: Take the First Step
As National Women’s Coaching Month shines a spotlight on the important role of women in sport, Rowing WA is encouraging members to consider coaching as a way to give back, develop new skills and help shape the next generation of rowers.
Funding remains available through the G’Rowing Clubs Grants Program to support coaching development, including Level 1 accreditation, first aid, CPR and other relevant training opportunities. Whether you're a current athlete, volunteer, parent or supporter, there has never been a better time to explore coaching.

All Schools #2 - Wrap Up
Athletes returned to Champion Lakes on Saturday 27th June, showing impressive determination through challenging rainy conditions.
Despite the winter weather, crews raced hard, supported one another and crossed the finish line with smiles – a reminder that rowing builds resilience both on and off the water.
Shenton College led the medal tally with 41.6 medals, followed by Swan River Rowing Club with 24 and Guildford Grammar School with 16. Congratulations to all athletes, coaches and supporters on a fantastic day of racing and perseverance.

Perth to Fremantle Head Race
The season's longest race returns this Sunday 12 July!
Crews will tackle the 16km journey from the Narrows Bridge to Fremantle in a true test of endurance, strategy and teamwork.
Come down to Fremantle Rowing Club to watch the action unfold, enjoy a bacon and egg burger, grab a great coffee and cheer on the crews as they race for line honours.

U23 Championships Loading
Western Australia will once again be represented on the world stage, with local athletes selected in the 2026 Australian Under 23 Rowing Team for the World Rowing U23 Championships in Duisburg, Germany from 23–26 July.
Congratulations to Jack Hansen Knarhoi (FRC/Harvard) and Lachlan Brown (WARC/WAIS), selected for the Men’s Pair, as they prepare to take on some of the world’s best young rowers. We wish Lachlan, Jack and all Australian crews the very best as they proudly wear the green and gold in Germany.

Hong Kong Crew Returns to WA
Western Australia recently welcomed the youth rowing squad from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club for their return visit to Perth as part of Rowing WA's Asian Engagement Program.
Hosted with support from Curtin University Boat Club and All Saints' College, the visiting athletes trained, raced and built connections with local rowers both on and off the water.
The visit strengthens the growing relationship between WA and Hong Kong rowing communities and highlights Perth's reputation as an international rowing destination.

Mettam's Head Race Wrap-Up
Mettam's Head Race delivered another fantastic day of racing, with crews taking to the river in favourable conditions – aside from the occasional jet ski adding an extra challenge!
It was great to see strong participation across all events and plenty of close racing.
The Head Race Pennant competition is heating up, with ANA currently leading the way, followed by UWA and SRRC. We won't reveal the points tally just yet, but it's shaping up to be an exciting battle as the season unfolds.

WA Athletes Shine at World Cup III in Lucerne
WA athletes made their mark at World Cup III in Lucerne, helping Australia secure nine medals and finish third on the overall medal tally.
Congratulations to Bronnie Cox, Jacqui Swick and Giorgia Patten on their silver medal in the Women's Four, alongside WA representatives Ben Scott, Johnson Daubney, Alex Baroni and Annabelle McIntyre.
With the final World Cup complete, attention now turns to the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam from 24–30 August, where our WA athletes will once again take on the world's best.

WA Athletes Represent on the International Stage at Henley Royal Regatta
WA athletes took on the world at the iconic Henley Royal Regatta, racing against some of the strongest club and international crews on the River Thames.
Swan River Rowing Club crews proudly represented WA in both the Wyfold Challenge Cup and the inaugural Danesfield Challenge Cup, while Myles McQuillan and Zoe McKellar competed for Leander.
A Henley campaign is an achievement in itself, with Zoe helping Leander reach the final of the Danesfield Challenge Cup.

All Schools State Championships to be a One-Day Event
The countdown is on to the 2026 All Schools State Championships, set to take place at Champion Lakes on Saturday 8 August, proudly supported by The City of Armadale.
Following feedback from WA schools and clubs, this year’s Championships will be conducted as a one-day event, bringing the school rowing community together for a jame packed day of racing and championship competition.
Can't make it to the venue? The event will be livestreamed, allowing supporters to follow the action from anywhere.

Don't Let a Flat Battery Leave You in the Dark
With winter rowing in full swing, many crews are training in low-light conditions. Now is a good time to check your bow lights and replace batteries if needed.
A bow light is only effective if it's working properly when you head out on the water. Batteries can lose power over time, even if the light hasn't been used regularly. Before your next outing, take a few moments to test your light and ensure it is bright, visible and ready to go.
A quick battery change is a simple way to improve safety and help keep all river users visible during early morning and evening sessions.
