Trinity Bridges Regatta Wrap‑Up
What a day on the water! Trinity Bridges Regatta delivered spectacular racing across 2500m endurance battles, 500m sprints, and 500m single sculls, culminating in an electrifying final sprint between the four fastest eights.

Our 21-strong squad delivered an unforgettable performance in China, with both men’s and women’s crews claiming Gold in the A-finals at the Hengqin Rowing Regatta. From Macau’s vibrant opening ceremony to thrilling races against world-class crews, this tour showcased teamwork, resilience, and international camaraderie—setting the stage for exciting opportunities ahead!

Beach Sprint Regatta #2 Wrap Up
What a spectacular day at Canning Bridge! This wasn’t your usual river racing – the Beach Sprint Regatta brought a fresh twist with fast-paced action and coastal conditions that kept everyone on their toes.
Under warm, breezy skies, athletes embraced the challenge of tight race turnarounds and shifting winds, delivering thrilling performances from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric as competitors sprinted across the sand and powered through the surf, showcasing skill, speed, and determination.
From nail-biting finishes to the camaraderie on the beach, the event captured the true spirit of coastal rowing. A big thank you to all athletes, volunteers, and supporters who made the day unforgettable. If you missed out, don’t worry – State Champs is on the horizon for 31st Jan -1st Feb. Stay tuned to join us for the next wave of action!

Nominations Now Open!
Australian Master's Rowing Championships coming to Champion Lakes, Perth in 2026!
Shout out to all our masters to get your nominations in, as we hope to select a full Master's State Team!
Boats to be selected:
Men's D Grade Coxed Eight, Women's D Grade Coxed Eight, Men's D Grade Coxless Quad, Women's D Grade Coxless Quad, Women's PR3 Single and Men's PR3 Single.
We are also looking for Coaches! One for each crew and 3 State Team Selectors.
A meet and greet will be held on 18 January, for all nominees. Venue & Time TBC. Details will be in the 7th January Oartalk edition and posted on socials.

Athlete Categorisation: Driving Performance Excellence
The Australian Institute of Sport’s national framework for athlete categorisation sets clear performance criteria and timelines to identify and prioritise athletes on their journey to international success. This process ensures support is targeted where it matters most—towards athletes demonstrating future potential, not just past results. By aligning planning and resources, the system aims to help Australia consistently achieve medal-winning performances on the world stage.

2026 U23 Australian Rowing Team & World University Championships Team
The selection requirements are the final version for the 2025-2026 period. A key change to previous years is that final selection onto the U23 Australian Rowing Team is planned to be completed closer to the 2026 U23 World Rowing Championships and will be fully integrated with both the Australian based and US College based athletes.

Debut for Rowing at the End of Year Carnival
Rowing WA teamed up with West Australian Rowing Club to bring rowing to the Thriving in Motion End of Year Carnival at the UWA Campus for the very first time. On a sunny spring morning, kids and families embraced the ergo experience.

The history of Rowing in Western Australia by WS Cooper.
The story begins with the first recorded rowing race in WA in 1837, and concludes with the 2007 State Championships at Champion Lakes. It mentions clubs and athletes who have contributed to 150 years of rowing. Finally, it details the emergence of women's rowing and it's rapid progression to equal status!
