City of Bunbury Incentives Supporting Bunbury Big Boats
Rowing WA clubs are encouraged to take advantage of City of Bunbury's support, designed to help reduce barriers and incentivise participation in the Bunbury Big Boats Regatta and Eaton Head Race.
This support is aimed at assisting clubs with the costs and logistics of attending the regional regatta, strengthening club engagement, increasing crew numbers, and building momentum to make Bunbury Big Boats a flagship event on the WA rowing calendar.
Clubs are encouraged to explore how this support can help get more crews on the water in Bunbury.

Expressions of Interest are now open for the 2026 Rose Regatta Tour — a free international racing opportunity for eligible WA athletes.

Australian Masters Rowing Championships — Volunteers Needed

From 27–30 May 2026, Rowing WA will host the Australian Masters Rowing Championships at Champion Lakes, welcoming Masters rowers from across Australia and overseas. This flagship event relies on volunteers to bring it to life.
No experience required and flexible time commitments are available. Get involved, be part of the atmosphere, and help deliver a memorable regatta.

Play by The Rules - Sessions for MPIO's
Play by the Rules has launched its Member Protection Information Officer Community of Practice Series.
Two online sessions remain, held at 7:30pm AEDT/AEST, and are open to MPIOs at all levels of sport nationwide. These practical sessions use scenarios and peer‑based learning to connect MPIOs and build collective capability.

PSA Head of The River - Done and Dusted
After weather delays postponed racing from Saturday 28 March, Champion Lakes delivered near‑perfect conditions mid‑week. Thank you to our BROs for their flexibility, and to parents and athletes for adapting at short notice with professionalism and positivity.
The First VIII race was nothing short of spectacular, with Aquinas College retaining top honours for the season after a convincing win, followed closely by Trinity College in second and Christ Church Grammar School in third.
Congratulations to every athlete on an outstanding performance — you should be immensely proud.

Masters Season Opener Results
Masters #1 got the season underway on Sunday 22 March at Champion Lakes, delivering an action‑packed day of racing and setting the tone for what promises to be a strong Masters campaign.
The regatta opened with selection races for the Masters State Team, where crews went head‑to‑head in tightly contested racing. Beyond the results, the day showcased the spirit of Masters rowing, with strong camaraderie between clubs and a mix of seasoned competitors and novice crews discovering the racing buzz for the first time.

Masters #2 - Coming Up
The Canning Bridge Rowing Course — famously used for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games — will once again come alive as it hosts the second Masters regatta of the season on Saturday 11 April.
With racing intensity building and crews settling in, this regatta promises exciting competition and strong performances. Canning Bridge provides the perfect stage to test speed, consistency, and race strategy early in the season.

Australian Rowing Championships - WA Wrap
The Australian Rowing Championships concluded on Sunday 29 March, delivering an outstanding campaign for Western Australia with 43 podium finishes across the regatta.
Extremely challenging conditions, including high winds and multiple race suspensions, made these performances even more impressive. The resilience, adaptability, and determination shown by WA athletes throughout the week was commendable, and we are incredibly proud of how they represented our State on the national stage.

New Women’s Masters Trophy Announced
We are proud to introduce the Cato/Grant Women’s E–M Pair State Championship Trophy, donated to Rowing WA by Nicky Cato and Vanessa Grant.
This perpetual trophy will be awarded to the winning women’s E–M pair, recognising and encouraging the growth of Women’s Masters pairs over the past 25 years.
This event has grown from just two crews with no separate age categories to an impressive eight crews at the recent Masters #1.
We also acknowledge the original trailblazers, Elizabeth Amann and Judith McCombe, who continue to race and have paved the way for future generations of women in this boat class.

Risk Review Tools
Rowing WA’s Risk Review Tools support clubs to assess safety risks by considering both likelihood and consequence.
The risk matrix helps determine when risks can be monitored, when controls should be strengthened, and when immediate action is required. Clubs are guided on appropriate risk treatments — avoid, reduce, transfer, or accept — supporting informed decision‑making and safer environments.
