Vale Alex Hatch
Rowing WA is saddened to acknowledge the passing of Alex Hatch, a respected member of Old Scotch Collegians Boat Club and valued member of the WA rowing community.
A talented lightweight rower, Alex represented Western Australia at the Australian Rowing Championships in 1987 and 1988 and later coached at Wesley College, where his influence became affectionately known as “The Hatch Factor”.
Since joining Old Scotch Collegians in 2020, Alex competed in more than 60 races, won 18 gold medals, and was a trusted crewmate, coach and friend. His warmth, humour and passion for rowing will be greatly missed.

Boat Drivers Required for UniNationals
UniNationals is coming to Perth, and we're looking for volunteer boat drivers to help support the regatta at Champion Lakes. This is a great opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's premier university sporting events and be part of the action on the water.

Pennant #2 Wrap Up
Pennant 2 delivered another great day of racing, with conditions kinder than forecast despite a slightly challenging cross breeze keeping crews and coxswains on their toes.
The Sculling Ladder events produced some impressive performances, with Emma Pittman (Swan River Rowing Club) claiming victory in the women's A single and Jacob Lundberg (West Australian Rowing Club) taking out the men's event.
Attention then turned to the A Eights, where Swan River Rowing Club showcased its depth, securing victories in both the Men's and Women's races. With valuable pennant points on offer and momentum building across the competition, the season continues to deliver exciting racing.
So, with Pennant 2 now in the books, the question remains: what will Pennant 3 hold? 🚣♀️🚣♂️

All Schools State Championships | 8 August
The countdown is on for the 2026 All Schools State Championships, taking place this weekend at Champion Lakes. Proudly partnered with the City of Armadale, this championship regatta will see the State's best school rowers go head-to-head as they compete for medals, titles and school pride.
Make a day of it and cheer on the athletes from the shoreline. Thanks to livestreaming, you can watch the racing unfold live on the big screen at the venue or catch it online if you can't make it to Champion Lakes.
