The Fremantle Rowing Club (FRC) had an oarsome success at the Australian Beach Sprints Rowing Championships.

FRC entered the Championships in Sydney, held September 18-21, riding on a wave of success. Having ended a title drought at the State Rowing Championships the weekend prior.

The athletes competed across various categories, winning six gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

“It was great to see how we stacked up against the best in the country,” said FRC member Dan Holding. “Our under-19 girls and school girl solos swept all three golds, and our under-23 mixed double even managed to secure a win against the Australian team. I couldn’t be prouder.”

Club President Colin Armstrong credited the team’s success to “dedication, hard work and commitment to excellence,” adding that the results reaffirm FRC’s position as a powerhouse in Australian rowing.

The Club also thanked Fremantle Bendigo Bank for helping purchase its first coastal rowing boat and Tuck Active for supplying team uniforms.

With WA set to host the 2028 Australian Beach Sprint Championships, FRC is now focused on preparing crews for Nationals in 2026 and upgrading training equipment.

Those interested in supporting the team can contact Colin Armstrong on 0412 224 730.

COACHING OPPORTUNITY ALERT!!

Curtin is seeking two keen coaches interested in a casual coaching role at Curtin Uni Boat Club in 2026 for our Mens and Women’s open squads.

About the roles:

Our season will be starting in line with the PSA season ending in 2026 and will run until the State Champs in September. It will be two mornings a week during this period and well paid for their time at these sessions. Regardless of if they have coached or been a part of a club season before we would love to meet anyone who is keen to take on the role. They will be working under and alongside the direction of our Head Coach in a collaborative position to benefit the athletes most effectively.

About us:

We had a spectacular season this year in 2025 coming 3rd overall at States, 3rd in B grade overall and 2nd in C grade overall for the season, these being our best results in a number of years we are hoping to find two people who will allow this to continue and improve moving forward, into and beyond next year for both our Mens and Women’s squads.

For interested parties, please contact Ellie - captain@curtinrowing.org.au before the end of October.
