Club Coach and Club Volunteer Nominations Now Open
Do you have someone in your club who is always down and around the shed, helping out where it is needed? Do you have things that are sorted out for you or fixed up before you've even had a chance to check where you could help? Whoever you have just thought of deserves to be nominated for Club Volunteer of the Year.
Do you have a particular coach who has supported yourself and others this season to achieve their best? Maybe someone who has guided you to understand a tricky technical change? You can nominate this person for Club Coach of the Year.
Nominations for Club Coach can be completed here. Nominations for Volunteer of the Year can be completed here. They close 11:59pm on Sunday 4 October.

Beach Sprint regattas are back in town.
Looking for a fast-paced and exciting rowing format? Wanting to row only 500m per race, on the beach, through some buoys, with your friends, and then do it all again to go through and win a head-to-head grand final?

UniNationals Volunteers Needed
UniNationals is heading to Perth and we need your help. We have gaps for administration support and boat holding roles.
Whether you can spare one day or all three, your support on the water will make a real difference to the regatta's success. Join the action and help showcase rowing to athletes from across the country.

Rowing Australia Rower of the Year Awards are Open!
Community Award nominations for the 2026 Hancock Prospecting Rower of the Year Awards are now open.
These awards recognise the outstanding individuals, coaches, volunteers, officials and clubs who make a significant contribution to rowing across Australia. New categories this year include School Rowing Program of the Year and Club/School Coach of the Year.
Nominations are open across eight award categories, with updated criteria and submission requirements available online.
Nominations close on Monday, 5 October 2026.

State Championships Wrap-Up
The 2026 State Championships delivered ideal racing conditions, with calm water and an exciting atmosphere across two days of competition.
With supporters tuning in via livestream, athletes took to the water for the final races of the season, producing outstanding performances throughout the weekend.
A highlight was the thrilling Women's Champion VIII, with Westies, UWA and Swannies battling to the line in front of enthusiastic spectators.
Congratulations to Westies on winning the Champion Men's VIII and UWA Women's VIII on claiming the Ann Tamigi Trophy, with both races decided by less than two seconds! 💛🖤🏆

Best of the West at Oceania Championships
Over the first week of September athletes from Fremantle Rowing Club and Swan River Rowing Club raced in the Oceania & Australian Beach Sprint Championship. Racing starting on each day with a time trial, quickly backed up with a knockout round and then a finals progression it was a fun and fast four days of racing where we held our own against the other states.
With an impressive medal haul coming back to WA of two gold, four silver and six bronze we could not be more proud of these athletes for putting themselves on the line and showing what WA is made of. 💚 🤍 💙🚣♀️

WA Masters Compete at World Rowing Masters Regatta in Bled
Many Western Australian travelled to Bled, Slovenia to compete in the World Masters Rowing Championships. With crews from ANA Rowing Club, University of WA Boat Club, Curtin University Boat Club, Canning Bridge Rowing Club, Fremantle Rowing Club, Perth Rowing Club, Swan River Rowing and West Australian Rowing Club, Perth was well represented!
While the typically picturesque Bled lake did not hold back on the wind and rain, the WA contingent of athletes did not let this dampen their spirits and we saw many great results, with 3 Gold Medals, many more podium places, and even more great pictures.

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club 2026
A team of nine junior athletes, led by Joey, joined forces with All Saints Rowing again this year. Despite limited preperation time and unfamiliar crew combinations, they performed strongly in challenging conditions and were delighted with the outcome.

Level 2 Coaching Accreditation Celebration!
Congratulations to the nine coaches who recently completed the Level 2 Coaching Accreditation. It was a big day packed with learning, and we look forward to seeing the impact these coaches continue to make across the WA rowing community.

Walk for JoJo's
Friends of Matilda Bay are asking for your support with shaping the future of the river and foreshore close to the hearts of many WA rowers.

Meet at Nedlands Jetty (JoJo's), and walk to JH Abrahams Reserve and southern entrance to UWA, there will be a free sausage sizzle afterwards and your support will be greatly appreciated by Friends of Matilda Bay. Please register to let them know you're coming.

As the 2026 rowing season comes to a close, Rowing WA extends its sincere thanks to Perfect Balance Rowing for their ongoing support as a Major Partner.
Through their commitment to clubs, schools and athletes across Western Australia, Perfect Balance Rowing continues to help our community perform at its best. Fittingly, both State Championship Champion VIII winning crews crossed the line in Filippi shells, proving once again that there really is such a thing as the Filippi feeling.

Thank you to City of Armadale
Our state championships could not have happened last weekend without support from our partner at City of Armadale. It was fantastic to have had the Deputy-Mayor, John Keogh down on Saturday and Councillor Tony Thomas on Sunday, to see some of the racing and support our winning athletes at the medal presentations each afternoon.
