A New Era Begins...

As many locals will have noticed, the rowing family at Canning Bridge is growing with extensive works having been conducted over the good part of this year for the installation of "The Rowing Pavilion".

This is a huge change for the "Old Girl" from the building she was above in 1962 as the HQ for rowing at the Empire Games. We are all excited to be moving back home after having spent this time working remotely keeping this wonderful sport of ours going!

Catch up on all the news below in our fortnightly edition of Oar Talk

BRO to umpire at World Masters Championships in South Africa next year

Rowing WA would like to introduce you to another of our Boat Race Officials, Ruth Oldert. When asked why she would encourage others to get involved in Officiating, this was Ruth's response:

"For past rowers, it offers a great way to still be involved in the sport and is a great way to connect with like-minded people, especially when you’re in a new city. For parents, I think it beats sitting on the bank as you get to see a whole different viewpoint from on the water or in the finish tower. You will have new respect for what your children do. For complete newbies, despite being a bit of a thankless task, it is a day off the couch in some of the best environments and always a great bunch of people with guaranteed laughs."
