Who is YOUR Community Rowing Hero?

Rowing Australia Official Partner, Coles, is proud to announce an initiative for the Australian rowing community that seeks to recognise the incredible contributions our volunteers make to the sport of rowing.

We all know that without the volunteers in clubs, schools & at our events, our sport would not run as seamlessly as it does. Coles acknowledges this & wants to celebrate the great work that so many in our community do for us.

Rowing WA invites you to nominate a volunteer who has made an impact in your rowing life & get them recognised as a Coles Community Rowing Hero! The top nominee will receive a $200 Coles Gift Card with a $100 gift card for the runner up.

Nominees from each State / Territory with the most votes will go the running to be winner of the Coles Community Rowing Hero of the Year!

Level 1 Boat Race Official Course - Wrap Up!

On Tuesday 22.06.2021, 11 keen volunteers turned up to take part in a Level 1 Boat Race Official Course.  During the evening Lynne Bayliss and Grant Ford went through the 4 components of Officiating:

  • Judging;
  • Marshalling;
  • Control Commission;
  • and Umpiring.

It was great to have so many fresh faces turn up to the evening and the feedback from all was that they learnt a lot and didn’t realise how much our officials have to do.

There was plenty of time for questions and interaction with two of our experienced officials.  We're excited to say that all 11 attendees passed the exam at the end and we look forward to welcoming them to the Boat Race Official Team.

Without our officials, we wouldn’t be able to run our regattas so they are an essential part of our sport.  If you would like to get involved in officiating or just learning more about the sport keep an eye out for our next course that we run and get involved.

Register to be a Volunteer HERE!

Congratulations Presbyterian Ladies College!
2021 IGSSA WA Head of the River Winners!

Congratulations PLC on a fantastic win at the IGSSA WA Head of the River on Saturday, 26.06.2021.

Racing throughout the day was exciting & competitive. Supporters could be heard screaming for their schools from the other side of the lake. The view from the 2000m mark at the tower was spectacular watching the 1st VIII take off. The peloton following the crews as they raced down the course found it hard to keep up!

Well done to Methodist Ladies College for wonderful hosting, everything was extremely well thought out. A special congratulations goes to the girls themselves for their sportsmanship & the wonderful support they showed each other.
