Congratulations Bunbury Rowing Club | 100 Years Old!

The Bunbury Rowing Club has survived through a world war, two fires, a cyclone & a pandemic to celebrate its centenary.  In 1921, the club purchased two rowing boats at the cost of 15 pounds each, now it has a shed full of boats!

In the 1930s Bunbury regattas would see around 1000 people line the inlet to watch.  A number of committees have tried to turn the Bunbury course into an internationally recognised one & got very close to it at one point when Ricard Court was WA Premier as he rowed for a club in Perth.  After visiting Bunbury, Court promised to turn it into an internationally recognised course if re-elected, but it never eventuated.

In May this year, the club officially turned 100 & have been enjoying a year's worth of celebrations to date that will wind up with their Centenary Gala Dinner this Saturday night.  The club has also put together a book, a collection of club history & stories capturing the past centenary.
