World Rowing Cup III | Event Wrap Up

Australia took six medals from the 12 crews racing across the Regatta, with a Gold from the Women’s Eight, & five Silver Medals in the Men’s Pair, Women’s Single, Men’s Eight, Men’s Four & Men’s Double.

The Women’s Eight of Eleanor Price, Bronwyn Cox (UWABC), Paige Barr, Jacqui Swick (SRRC), Ella Bramwell, Olympian Giorgia Patten (WARC), Olympian Georgina Rowe, Emma Fessey, & cox Talia Barnet-Hepples had conviction from the starting green light through to the line.

Patten said, of the race, “We came out & executed a really good start which has been a strength of ours, so our main focus was to nail the race rhythm from 750 to 1500m which we know we are capable of. It’s exactly what we did and allowed us to move up through the field and hold off Canada and Romania.

“A big motto of our Women’s Training group is, ‘any person, anytime, anywhere’, so adapting at any point and keeping positive spirits.”

Results & highlights can be seen via the World Rowing website.

Henley Royal Regatta 2022 | Event Wrap Up

Australian athletes stepped up to claim several champion cups at a picturesque Henley-on -Thames for the Henley Royal Regatta Finals.

Olympic Bronze Medallists, Jack Cleary & Caleb Antill kept cool under pressure against the British in The Double Sculls Challenge Cup to claim victory in an exciting final race. This is only the 2nd time Australia has won this event, it last being claimed in 1997.

Cleary said, “It was a wicked battle the whole way down. [The extra 112m] stings – not only that, it’s a cross-headwind & a head current so it’s just a slower race overall.”

The British squad got the best of our Women’s Eight with a win in the Remenham Challenge Cup.

Of the Women’s race, Tokyo Olympic Champion, Annabelle McIntyre OAM said, “We went out there with some really good intent, & we’re all really proud of that intent, we just didn’t quite execute it the way we wanted to. Every one of us will take that mentality that every stroke counts..."
