2013 and 2014 Sydney International Regattas - World Cup
This is Chris Noel - I have met most of you but would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to a few I have not met. I have just taken on the role of Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 2013 and 2014 Sydney International Regatta – World Cup.
This will be our biggest rowing event since the 2000 Olympics and will present some challenges – not the least of which will be the scale of the event and the impact it might have on our regular group of rowing fanatics (I use that word instead of fan – fan is not really strong enough to describe rowing followers !)
I am hoping and asking that I and the Organizing Committee can have your support in making these 2013 and 2014 World Cups memorable events for Australian Rowing.
With an event of this scale ticketing will be an issue – both cost and ensuring that regular rowing supporters get priority in purchasing tickets.
We are planning to allow rowing supporters to pre-register their interest in buying tickets from next week. Tickets will not go on sale around July- Sept 2012 but from next week we will be starting our register of preferred buyers from the rowing community.
The Rowing Down Under website will have a registration from early next week. (http://rowingdownunder.org/
I am asking that all States might promote this registration process and other information about the Sydney International Rowing Regatta prominently on their websites.
I recognize that most of what we do in our sport on a week to week basis is “locally driven” . It is for this reason I am asking for your cooperation in assisting myself and the organizing committee to make this an event all the rowing community and hopefully others from outside our group can participate in and enjoy.
Best regards
Christopher Noel
