Members of the Western Australian Teams to compete at the Australian Rowing Championships on Lake Barrington, Tasmania follow. The Championships commence on Monday, 6 March 2006 and conclude on Sunday, 12 March 2006 with the Interstate Regatta. The small boat events on Monday and Tuesday will be used as the first round of selection races for 2006 National teams.
At the Interstate Regatta high expectations are held for Amber Bradley in the women’s single sculls, the men's lightweight four, (with 3 international representatives in the crew) and in the women's eight.
The lightweight four will face stiff competition from Tasmania and the Victorian women's eight has several members from last years world championship winning crew in the boat. The WA men’s youth eights and lightweight quad are still developmental with the women's youth eight an outside chance of a medal.
In the National Championships, high expectations are held for:
Todd Skipworth and Ben Cureton in the Men’s Lightweight Coxless Pairs
Joannan Lutz and Amber Bradley in the Women’s Coxless Pairs
Jessica Huston in the Lightweight Women’s Single Scull
Perrin Franks in the Lightweight Under 23 Men’s Single Scull
Peter Olsen and Rober Alderman in the Men’s Under 23 Coxless Pair
There are various big boat combinations that have good chances, too many to mention though! The small boats are for selection so this is our main priority.
